Sex and relationships can affect how we feel. If something is worrying you, you can get help. Many people find that talking about it makes a difference.
Introduction
Worries about sex, our bodies or our partners are common. They often get better with support. You do not need to wait until things feel serious.
You can talk to your clinic team, your GP, or a trusted friend. Your clinic can also refer you to a counsellor or psychologist.
Ways to get support
- Ask a member of your clinic team for advice
- Ask about a referral to talking therapy
- Join a local or online group
- Speak to your GP about your mood or anxiety
Talking to a partner
It can help to pick a calm time and a private place. Say how you feel, and listen to your partner. You do not need to solve everything in one talk. If it is hard, a counsellor can help you both.
If you need help now
If you feel unsafe or want to harm yourself, call 999 or go to your nearest A&E. If you want to talk to someone straight away, you can call NHS 111.
You deserve support that suits you. Ask your clinic what is available.
